Samsung Email for Android

Set up Small Business Email in Samsung Email

Add your Small Business Email mailbox to the Samsung Email app using IMAP and SSL/TLS. Screens may differ between Samsung Email and Android versions.

Example domain only:

Wherever you see clientdomain.co.uk, type the domain after the @ in your own email address.

Your Small Business Email package includes a custom mail hostname and webmail URL. In this guide we will use mail.clientdomain.co.uk as a placeholder.

For example, if your email address is joebloggs@clientdomain.co.uk, your server would be mail.clientdomain.co.uk.

Before you begin

You need your full email address and mailbox password, or an app password if your account requires one for email apps. Your Samsung account and Client Management Portal passwords may be different. This IMAP setup synchronises email, not server calendars or contacts.

Add your account

  1. Open Samsung Email. If you already have an account, open the menu, tap the settings cog and select Add account.
  2. Choose Other if a provider list appears, then enter your full email address and mailbox or app password.
  3. Tap Manual setup and choose IMAP account.
  4. Check that Email address and User name both contain your full email address.
  5. Under Incoming server, enter your custom mail hostname (e.g. mail.clientdomain.co.uk) as the IMAP server. Select SSL or SSL/TLS and set the port to 993. If an IMAP path prefix is offered, leave it blank unless support has supplied a specific value.
  6. Under Outgoing server, enter your custom mail hostname again as the SMTP server. Select SSL or SSL/TLS and set the port to 465.
  7. Enable Require authentication to send emails or Require sign-in. Enter your full email address and the same mailbox or app password for outgoing email.
  8. Tap Sign in, Next or Done to verify. Set your sync preferences, account name and sender display name if prompted.

Choose the standard SSL/TLS option, not an option that accepts all certificates. If the app supplies settings automatically, check them against the values above before finishing. A recognised service hostname may differ from the domain-based example.

Check or change saved settings

Open Samsung Email > menu > Settings > your account > Server settings. Confirm IMAP port 993, SMTP port 465, SSL/TLS on both and outgoing authentication enabled. Save any changes.

Test and troubleshoot

Allow the folders to synchronise. Send a message to another address you can access and reply to it. If receiving works but sending fails, check outgoing authentication, username and password. If mail is delayed, check the account's sync settings and Android background-data permissions.

Do not turn off encryption or bypass certificate warnings. If secure verification fails, check your hostname and contact support. Back up local-only messages before removing an existing account.

For help, contact us through the Client Management Portal with your Samsung Email version and exact error. Never send your password.
